The Caravan Club is celebrating its 100th Birthday this week at sites throughout its national network. It was on 14 June 1907 that barrister and journalist J Harris Stone hosted the inaugural meeting of The Caravan Club of Great Britain & Ireland at his home at 72 Stamford Brook Road, London. Just10 men and one woman started what is now the UK’s largest club for caravanners, motorcaravanners and trailer tent owners. The Club now boasts almost 360,000 households representing over 900,000 owners. The Caravan Club’s members represent over half the UK’s caravanning community. Throughout 2007, The Caravan Club is celebrating 100 years of supporting, promoting and developing caravanning in the UK and Ireland with a series of special events, exhibitions and even a new corporate identity. In order to mark this milestone, The Caravan Club has published ‘The History of The Caravan Club 1901-2007’, a special, limited-edition book celebrating The Clubs Centenary, priced at £24.99. The book, along with other memorabilia, can be ordered from the Club Shop.
